Winter Electrical Safety Tips

Electric Blankets:

• Electric blankets should be checked at the start of each winter for damaged wires, leads and hot spots.
• Never purchase a "second hand" electric blanket.
• Electric blankets should be laid flat and secured tightly on the bed.
• Remember to turn off the electricity at the power point.

Heaters:

• Do not place combustible material e.g clothes and paper etc on heaters or too close to them.
• Never use a faulty electrical appliance, or one that has frayed cord, cracked or broken plug.

Clothes Dryer

• Clean the lint filter in your clothes dryer after each use.

Maryborough residents are being asked for "feedback" on plans to revitalize the city's CBD.

Council and the Maryborough Chamber of Commerce CBD Renewal Group, have been developing strategies to reinvigorate the CBD.

Three of the four options below include one-way streets to allow wider footpaths for el fresco dining and improved car parking:

1. Adelaide and Kent St replacing (modernising) existing footpath and kerb.
2. Adelaide and Kent St One-way 2m additional footpath
3. Adelaide and Kent St One-way full footpath reconstruction
4. Adelaide Street One-way full construction and Kent St (replace existing footpath).

The public is invited to attend a Community Consultation Forum with Councillors and members from the CBD Renewal Committee.

Healthy Eating
"Quick Quiche Recipe"

Ingredients:

6 eggs
½ cup bacon or ham
½ cup cheese grated
1 cup trim milk
1 cup vegetables (peas, beans, carrots & corn)
1 x 20cm deep dish pie shell
1 cup trim milk

Cooking directions:

1. Preheat oven 180 degrees
2. Sprinkle vegetables and bacon or ham into a 20cm deep pie shell.
3. Beat eggs, milk and seasoning. Pour over filling.
4. Bake for 30 – 40 minutes in the oven.
5. Let cool for 5 minutes before slicing.

Sections available are Vocal & Choral, Instrumental, Speech & Drama and Literary. There are items in all sections for all ages especially for those 21 yrs and over. If you can sing, play an instrument, recite poems, write a story etc. then this is for you. Preliminary schedules are available at Anthony Breed's College of Music in Adelaide Street.
