My Living Will

Last night, my kids and I were sitting in the living room and I said to them, "I never want to live in a vegetative state, dependent on some machine and fluids from a bottle. If that ever happens, just pull the plug."

They got up, unplugged the computer and threw out my wine.

The little darlings???

Winter Electrical Safety Tips

Electric Blankets:

  • Electric blankets should be checked at the start of each winter for damaged wires, leads and hot spots.
  • Never purchase a "second hand" electric blanket.
  • Electric blankets should be laid flat and secured tightly on the bed.
  • Remember to turn off the electricity at the power point.

Heaters:

  • Do not place combustible material e.g clothes and paper etc on heaters or too close to them.
  • Never use a faulty electrical appliance, or one that has frayed cord, cracked or broken plug.

Wooden Leg

A man and his wife, moved back home to West Virginia, from Ohio ... The husband had a wooden leg, and to insure it back in Ohio it cost them $2,000 per year!

When they arrived in West Virginia, they went to an insurance agency to see how much it would cost to insure his wooden leg.

The agent looked it up on the computer and said: '$39.'

The husband was shocked and asked why it was so cheap here in West Virginia to insure it because it cost him $2000 in Ohio!

The insurance agent turned his computer screen to the couple and said, "Well, here it is on the screen, it says: Any wooden structure, with a sprinkler system above it, is $39... You just have to know how to describe it!"

Thought of the Month

Getting older is inevitable, but there are ways to avoid feeling older.

The best advice?

Take care of your health, stay active, maintain friendships and keep learning new things. One of the most important anti-aging defenses we have is a positive attitude.
