Queensland Health - Mobile Women's ServiceThe Mobile Women's Health Service is a network of specialist nurses and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health practitioners who provide a free and confidential service for Queensland women. The service, provided by Queensland Health, aims to improve the health and well-being of women in rural and remote areas of Queensland. Mobile Women's Health Nurses work as sole practitioners and provide a range of preventative health services for women, including Pap smears, education, information, counselling and support on a range of women's health issues. In some areas, an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Women's Health Practitioner works with the nurse to assist in meeting the needs of local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Women. The Mobile Women's Health Service is based on the belief that each woman is unique, has the right to be treated with respect and must have the opportunity to be involved in decisions about her care. The Mobile Women's Health Service can assist and support all women, through the provision of culturally appropriate information, support, clinical services and the promotion of health life choices. The Mobile Women's Health Service work with both individuals and groups to provide a number of services.
