ORACLE (Talking Newspaper)

Do you know anyone who is print impaired?
Did you know that there is an excellent service available to assist local residents with this disability?

The Maryborough & District Committee on the Ageing Inc, through funding received from the Disability Services Queensland has a number of volunteers who read the local newspaper onto tape and then this is copied and sent through Australia Post (free of charge) each week.

If you know of anyone who would benefit from this service, please contact this office on 4123 1554.

Volunteers are always being sought by the Committee for this service. If you wish to know more about the ORACLE, please phone 5123 1554.

OUR PLACE

"Our Place" is a tea room in the Maryborough City Hall manned by volunteers every Thursday morning (Market Day). Call in when you feel like a cuppa and want to rest your feet after the hustle and bustle of shopping. The cheerful volunteers will make you very welcome, have a friendly chat and serve a cuppa and a bikkie for 50 cents donation. This service is provided by MaDCOTA Inc in conjunction with the Fraser Coast Regional Council.

The plumber rang the doorbell. The housewife answered.
"I've come to fix your broken hot-water pipe."
"We no got broke pipe," said the woman.
The plumber consulted a note-paper in his hand. "Are you Mrs.Turner?"
"No. She move. Four months back."
"How do you like that?" said the plumber in disgust. "All you people are the same. You call for a plumber, hollering it's an emergency and can I rush right over – and before I can even answer the call, you pack up and move!"
