Vol 12 No. 7 August 2007

  In this Issue:

Health Councils

Members of the new Health Community Councils have been appointed. Members of the previous Fraser Coast District Health Council who applied for membership of the new council are among those appointed including Barbara Paterson, Chairman. The new councils will have two main tasks. The first is to engage and consult with the community so that a real community perspective is always present in decision making and the second is to monitor the quality and safety of health service delivery. Members will receive orientation in their new role at their first meeting which will be held at the Hervey Bay Hospital on August 9. A mix of community representatives and health and management professions comprise the Health Community Council.

Man Driving

RACQ "Years Ahead"

The RACQ will present a workshop for older drivers in Maryborough on Monday 10 September. Changes to traffic rules will be covered and tips to keep older drivers safe will be on the agenda. Plenty of time will be allocated for questions and answers. The previous RACQ presentation held some years ago was very helpful and attracted a large audience. The venue for the coming event is still to be advised. Watch the papers for future announcements.

ACCURATE COMMUNICATION

Mrs. Hill hurriedly scribbled a request for special prayers and pushed it into the hand of the minister as he made his way into the church. She wrote: "Thomas Hill, having gone to sea, his wife requests the prayers of the congregation for his safety".

At the appropriate place in the service the minister read: "Thomas Hill, having gone to see his wife, requests the prayers of the congregation for his safety."
